The evening is coming
And soon the night will fall, dark and black
I should go to the mountains now
But it is so beautiful here in the valley
It is so lonley, cold and bare
On the mountainside where the snowstorms roar
It is so calming here where the people live
In the valley so beautiful and green
I think about that sweet little princess
Who just came running by
Her hair was like shimmering gold
She would be such a nice meal
The other folks run away from me
Pointing and shouting from a safe distance
They run away from me while shouting
"Look at that big and ugly beast!"
But her eyes was so mild and sweet
She looked so calmly at me
Eaven thoug I am wild eyed and dark eyed
And everything sweet always run away from me
I wanted to hold and stroke her
But I am just an ugly creature
I wanted to kiss her and sing her to sleep
sing: sleep well my sweet
I wanted to put her into a sack
and bring her home for dinner
And then I would like to eat her
served on a golden platter
But hum and oh, how stupid I am
Who would look at me like her?
I am just such a stupid fool
Born with such a stupid head
I will let the little one be
we ogres are just ogres
It is hard not to eat her
But it is the way it has to be
But oh, who wouldn't cry
when you are lonley and stupid like me
I know it would not make any difference
I think it is best if I just go hom
hum hum hum hum
