Today and some difficult things with a new horse

Today has been somewhat of a productive day. I started out with trimming Eddies hooves. He got groomed and we started to experiment of what kind of backing up-behaviour we would like to use in the future. What is easiest for Eddie and what is a simple way of doing it according to ques and stuff.
Eddie did very well, I on the other hand was a bit unfocused. Not good when training. Otherwise Eddie was a pure star as always.

Divino got a training session with work in hand. At the moment the longing is where he works the best. But I try to find a lot more exercises to do straight forward. Today i focused, again, on his jaw and neck shape. In the left bending he is doing great now, but he has still some trouble to find it in the right bending. Today I think we made quite a lot of progress. We also did som travere-changes in walk. I want to get his travere a bit better in walk before we try it out in trott again.
We finished with some trot on the longe. It was actually realy nice. He found his hindlegs and carried himself in a pretty good shape. Hard work is paying off! Finaly! I got my hopes up that we might not embarrasse ourselves too much at the Arne Koest-clinic in October.

Quatren got a lot of kisses and hugs. He is truly the best horse ever. I am so happy that I am able too keep him,

Aaaaand then over to Franz. He has not realy been keen to hang out with me. But today we had a very important apointment with the farrier. So, he had to be caught. After a bit of planning and preparation he finally allowed me to catch him. All in all it took about 40 minutes. As soon as he was caught he just calmed down and accepted it. For safety I also took Q in a halter so that Franz would have a calm and confident horse with him.
And then the farrier came. Franz let her trim his front hooves, but his right hoof was hard. He got very unsecure and was not comfortable with her there. She managed to do some work with it though.
The left hoof was much easier. She could do pretty much and he stayed calmer. After that we called it for the day. I do not want to overdo it and it is better to take it slowly and in small steps than destroy his small amount of confidence and trust.
When she had left I kept Franz in the leadrope for a while. I wanted to give him a relaxed finish of the days adventures. Tomorrow I will see if it worked out.

The har thing is that I am still not sure wich way I want to approach him. Should I wait and let him come to me on his own initiative? Should I force him softly and calmly to spend time with me so that he will learn that I am not dangerous? I guess time will tell wich approach that willbe the best for Franz. At the moment he is too tensed to start the clickertraining. Wich means: he is too tensed to eat and too tensed to relax when I am around. This is a very interesting journey.
Franz is an amazing horse. Strong, beautiful, wise, and talented. The only thing he needs to gain now is confidence and trust.
