All of my horses was wonderfull yesterday, they realy know how to make me smile. Q got a good grooming and he realy enjoyed it. I am not sure that he understands why we can't realy train anymore. Sometimes it realy feels like he says: What? Pain? Me? Come on! I am a strong horse. Let us go fr a ride! I do not see why we shouldn't".
But at the moment it doesn't feel right. I will longe him in a couple of days I think, just to see how he moves. If he isn't limping, I might dare to take a little stroll with him in the forest.
Eddies hindleg.
Eddie had a bit of a nasty wound on his left hindleg. I guess it is from their sometimes rough stallionplays. However, I had to take him up tpo the grooming area and wash it. When we where there we played a little bit and I introduced him to she bareback pad. He did not care so much. It was interesting to smell - that is about it.Eddie is a realy cool little guy, only about 17 months old he is comfortable with beeing alone and very calm and intelligent. He is easy to handle and is mostly very happy. Eaven though he has a strong personality. His face realy show off his thoughts. It is amazing to see. And he is so cuddly, he loves pets, kisses and hugs. I can't wait for him to grow up! What a dream he will become!
Eddie sniffs out the padd
When Eddie was taken care off, I did som basic handling with Franz. This time I let Divino stay in the little paddock where I lure the horses in to be able to work with Franz. It is impossible to get close to him in the big meadows where they roam. Franz is still a bit unsecure and it has been almost impossible to get close to him with other horses in the paddock, but this time it went very well. I brushed his forelock and mane, groomed him (he allowed me to groom his hindlegs! Yaaay!) and did some work on his front hooves. His feet are still not pretty, in Italy they have hard and rocky grounds wich help the horses to naturaly keep their hooves in shape. Where I live, the earth is soft and grass covered. So the situation deteriorates fast. So little by little, a mm a day, I try to slowly give his hooves a better angle and shape. I also started to show him that it is okay to let me stretch out his front legs forward. A good thing to be able to do when hoof trimming. He thought I was very wierd, but actually allowed me to - wich felt great of course. When we were done, we took a miniminiminitiny little walk outside their field. He was so good! A bit sceptical, but still quite calm.
The weather was warm and sunny btw, so my theory of the weather feels quite accurat.
Franz on our little walk
After Franz it was Divinos turn, and how he had longed for it! He was so good today aswell. We had a lot of fun just doing very basic stuff, and in the end he did a realy nice bow. I would like to post the little movie of it here, but my editing program is not running as it should and I am experimenting with a new one atm.
